Sexuality: He's just a kid but probably straight
Appearance: Extremely messy brown hair with reddish brown highlights tops his head and is usually pulled back in an equally messy and stubby ponytail, a hairstyle that is reminiscent of his father. He has wide brown eyes and wears a pair of glasses on the bridge of his nose. He's short in stature, standing at about 4'7" but this is probably only due to his young age. Given that he was on a journey to the magical world, he was wearing a traveling cloak at the time with a suit underneath.
Personality: Negi has a very optimistic outlook on life despite all that he's been through and this has taken the extreme in certain cases on the point of naïveté (for example he likes to see the good in people even if they do claim to be evil). He has a very caring nature for everyone, especially his students, and this can often lead to conflict when it comes to fighting, as he really doesn't want to hurt anyone. Negi is also very intelligent as well, he is the youngest graduate of the magical academy he attended and is shown to be a quick learner in not only magic but hand to hand combat as well. Even if he is optimistic to a fault that does not take away from his maturity over all, not just any 10 year old male could be a teacher for 31 female students after all and he takes his job very seriously, often surprising said students. His need to protect his students as well as the desire to reach the level of his father has often led to him pushing himself to the very limits of his powers and despite his attempt not to this often causes worry for his students.
Abilities: Negi is a mage-in-training and can use magic with the aid of his staff that he inherited from his father (although he can use other magical items as well such as rings or other wands). Negi is best with the elements of wind, light, and lightening which grants him various abilities in both offense and defense as well as the ability to fly. Along with his magical training, It has also been shown that Negi uses his magical powers to enhance his speed and physical strength to a level much greater than his 10 year old body would normally show (running as fast as Asuna for example). Negi has also been working on his combat skills as well, training under his student in the art of Chinese Kenpo which he has combined with his own magical skills in a new style. He has shown himself to have a great resolve for pain when in a fight due to his own stubbornness and resolve to protect others. Not only is he a great fighter but a great thinker as well, some going so far as to call him a genius, he is very studious although this can sometimes be a downfall in battle when he over analyzes a situation.
Currently, however, all of these abilities are extremely limited. He can still use magic of course but there seems to be some kind of block on his power to where he can only do about a fourth of the magic he was once able to meaning if he uses too much in a short amount of time he will become severely fatigued.
Weaknesses: As stated in his personality, Negi is a rather naïve individual when it comes to a lot of things. This might also attribute itself to his extreme stubbornness in a fight when he will believe he can do something without the help of others, his students and friends often have to remind him that he's not alone in his journey and that they are there to support him. Negi has a tendency to over analyze certain things as well and thinking too much can sometimes be a hindrance on the field. He also seems to have trouble with keeping his magic a secret since the majority of his class by this point somehow knows that he is a mage (with seven of his students having even formed a Pactio with him).

History:
Negi Springfield was the only son (as far as we know) to the master mage Nagi Springfield or The Thousand Master but as both his parents are dead (or assumed to be) Negi grew up with his cousin in a small village in England. He lived alone in his uncle's guest house and his cousin would care for him when she wasn't in school. While there he made friends with a girl named Anya who helped him begin his studies in magic and even gave him his first wand. Negi grew up hearing stories about his father and never believed him to be dead and since he knew his father was famous for rescuing people he would often put himself in danger to see if he could get his father to come save him.
When Negi turned four his wish to see his father came true but at a horrible cost. A horde of demons attacked his village, petrifying most of the villagers and even his cousin. Just as Negi was about to be attacked himself his father appeared. Nagi destroyed all of the demons and then left Negi with his staff.
Negi managed to prevent his cousin from being completely petrified and he, Anya, and his cousin were taking to a village of mages in Wales. Here Negi attended magic school and completely immersed himself in his studies with the goal to become just like his father, a Magister Magi. He graduated a few years later at the age of 9 and was at the top of his class. In order to complete his training however he was given the task of becoming a teacher in Japan. Negi accepted this odd task and ended up a Mahora Academy where he was assigned as the homeroom and English teacher for Class 2-A of the Middle School section (which also happened to be an all-girls school).
The young mage tried to keep his magic a secret but one after another, his students began discovering his ability. He eventually takes up training under the vampire mage, Evangeline, as well as Chinese kenpo under Ku Fei (both students in his class) in order to further hone his skills as a mage fighter. During a fighting tournament held during Mahora's school festival Negi learns that his father really IS still alive somewhere and decides that over summer vacation he will go search for him in the other world known as Magic Country. Just as the portal opens for them to enter Negi is whisked away instead to Manhattan.
